Health Surveillance

Health surveillance involves periodic assessments of workers to detect the early signs of work-related illness. There is a statutory requirement to undertake health surveillance for many occupations or workplace hazards. Examples include health surveillance for skin and lung sensitisers, noise exposure, work with vibrating tools and certain chemical agents.

HSE places a strong emphasis on employer risk assessment and we are able to work with employers to ensure they have adequate risk assessments in place, and to advise on a cost-effective health surveillance programme.
